New ambulances in New Berlin: $75,000 grant for emergency service
The CREST program recently awarded a $75,000 grant to the New Berlin Emergency Service that will enable the purchase of new equipment and ambulances
The New Berlin Emergency Service recently received a $75,000 grant from New York State’s CREST (Community Resiliency Economic Sustainability and Technology) program. New equipment and ambulances reimbursed by the state will be possible through this grant.
A necessary upgrade
This is a necessary upgrade, as New Berlin Mayor Peter Lennon himself says. Indeed, the current ambulance system is prone to frequent breakdowns, due to which it is often forced to operate with a lone ambulance or a rental ambulance from the City of Sidney. The goal of this generous grant is therefore to replace the current ambulance with a newer, more reliable model. This means less inconvenience to citizens and greater peace of mind in an emergency.
Efficient communication and cardiac emergency response
In addition to the purchase of new ambulances, part of the grant will be invested:
- In a new communication system: which will provide better coordination among health care providers, thus ensuring faster and more accurate rescue
- In an automatic external defibrillator (AED): which will enable timely intervention in the event of cardiac arrest, increasing patients’ chances of survival
- In the repair of current ambulances, so as to ensure a more sustainable service
A major investment
New Berlin Mayor Peter Lennon stresses the importance of this investment: “Having an efficient ambulance and a state-of-the-art communication system allows us to offer quality emergency service to our citizens. Quick response time is critical to saving lives, especially in rural areas like ours.”
A step toward a safer future
The arrival of the new ambulances, communication system and AED is a significant step toward a safer future for the New Berlin community. Citizens can now count on a more efficient and reliable emergency medical service ready to respond to their needs at all times.
