Resilience in Bangladesh: Floating schools as solution against monsoon and flooding
PABNA , BANGLADESH – An NGO designed school boats as a solution to severe flooding consequences. During monsoon season, 1/3 of the country submerged. Millions of children are cut off from the school on land. There are more than 100 floating schools in Bangladesh.
Now, children can study with friends, instead to stay alone at home. Classrooms are equipped with computers and internet, which is working the boats get their power from solar panels.
No matter how the water rises, schools will keep on floating. Children can study safely and their parents are more comfortable, because they know that their children will be safe and they won’t have to walk long distances to go to school, risking violence, injuries and waste of time.
