The Efficiency That You Do Not Expect: ambulance footwear Gripper Murray
Tester: Mario Robusti
Position: BLSD Volunteer healthcare operator Red Cross Parma
I work as a volunteer for medical transportation services, and Civil Protection services in the Italian Red Cross.
We often operate for logistical and hydraulic management in case of massive emergencies. I tested Mekap Gripper Murray shoes for three weeks in different types of operations.
Impressions during a nightshift with Gripper Murray on
This model is sold in Europe under the Gripper brand. It is one of the most sold safety shoes in the Turkish emergency medical service market. The design of this product is captivating and the quality of the material is perceptible. The shoe is lightweight, also thanks to the toe cap made of 200J composite material. It has all the characteristics required by the EN ISO 20345 regulation: antistatic and non-slipping sole, high-absorption heel, and waterproof.
The shoes’ leather – available only in black colour – is soft, but resistant and it suits pleasantly. These safety shoes have a good level of admixture between composite materials and leather. It is quite breathable and waterproof, with the addition of a good cushioning in general. The flat is quite large and it suits feet with a pronounced shape of fingers. Who has – like me – some problem with
flat adaptation will find this shoe quite comfortable.
I used this model during a series of activities, firstly for nightshift with Civil Protection, then for medical services. The most interesting part of these safety shoes is the sole. Its design of grip fast sole allows a quick and easy washing. For an entry-level shoe, Gripper is a perfect solution, both for the price and for the performance. The internal support sole is comfortable and the cushioning guarantees sufficient heat insulation, without making the foot sweat. Good the idea of the external loops in rigid plastic, easy to clean and to change laces. Some reflective parts are missing, according to me, but as a whole, it is a very good option for a large supply and to assure to all the operators an efficient starting product, easy to clean – also in the washing machine! – but not extremely expensive. Suggested the model with straps!
