Altered colour vision: what diseases does it indicate?

When it is not present from birth due to a congenital eyesight defect, impaired colour vision occurs when there is a sudden lesion in the optic pathways that may involve the optic nerve, macula, retina and choroid

Impaired colour vision: the disorder may affect only one eye (unilateral) or both eyes (bilateral)

The alteration can manifest itself in different ways, including a more or less marked fading of certain colours, particularly red, colour vision in shades of grey or otherwise less intense and sometimes accompanied by a progressive reduction in vision.

What are the remedies for impaired colour vision?

The disorder can only be treated after a direct diagnosis to identify the cause.

In these cases, therapy may be pharmacological, chemotherapeutic or surgical, depending on the case.

If your colour vision is impaired, you should always seek medical attention as soon as possible because the symptom may be linked to a pathology, such as a stroke, for which rapid intervention is essential to ensure a better chance of recovery.
