The Archaeological Park of Herculaneum: A Safe and Cardioprotected Place
Safety and History Intertwine: Herculaneum Becomes Cardioprotected with Innovation and Responsibility
The fascination of antiquity blending with modernity emerges in an innovative project in the heart of the Herculaneum Archaeological Park, officially declared Cardioprotected. The famous and historic site, witness to an era buried under the ashes of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D., now stands out for a revolutionary initiative: the cardioprotection of its visitors.
Herculaneum, along with Pompeii, Stabia and Oplonti, has revealed the remains of an ancient city buried by natural disaster. The cardioprotection project, with attention to the smallest details, is a tribute to the history and art of the place while keeping the sacredness of the site intact. With over five hundred thousand tourists visiting it annually and its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List, ensuring early intervention in the event of Sudden Cardiac Arrest has become a top priority.
The implementation of a network of defibrillators is at the heart of this initiative. Placed in functional and aesthetically pleasing cases, these devices are designed to maximize effectiveness through 4G online connectivity. Remotely monitored and accessible 24 hours a day, they represent a reliable and efficient life-saving system.
But this is not a simple equipment installation: it is the result of a thorough study of site plans and health protocols, which require action within minutes in case of emergency. The choice of the number and location of the defibrillators was thoughtful to ensure rapid intervention without compromising the aesthetic and landscape experience of the site.
The delicacy of the intervention is also reflected in the customized signage panels that accompany each defibrillator, integrating harmoniously into the exhibition context without distracting visitors’ attention.
Park Director Francesco Sirano emphasizes the priority commitment to visitor care and safety, highlighting how this implementation makes a visit to Herculaneum even more enjoyable and safer.
In addition to the installation of the devices, Auexde offers comprehensive technical training to Park staff, ensuring full familiarity in the use of the defibrillators. This expands the possibilities of intervention for those who frequent the Park, transforming every employee into an aware and ready potential rescuer.
Semi-automatic external defibrillators are designed to be intuitive, guiding the rescuer through clear voice instructions. Their autonomy in cardiac diagnosis relieves the rescuer of legal responsibilities, providing greater safety in the use of these vital tools.
Auexde CEO Antonio Ferraro stresses that safety is an inescapable necessity and an ethical responsibility to be embraced.
