What is the computerised visual field test?

The computerised visual field test is used to assess whether there are both retinal sensitivity changes and changes to the optic nerve

The test is carried out one eye at a time (the patient will therefore first occlude the left eye and then the right eye).

The duration of the test is approximately 15 minutes per eye.

How is the computerised visual field test carried out?

The patient is placed to fixate 4 bright green sights inside a dome and must hold a button in his or her hand.

The lights serve as fixation sights and must therefore be fixed for the duration of the test.

Inside the dome you will see small yellow lights that turn on and off (like small flashes): each time the yellow light is perceived, the patient must press the button in his hand.

These flashes vary in size and brightness and can occur either near the fixation sights (the 4 green lights) or in the periphery of the dome.

In the case where the yellow light comes on in the periphery of the dome, it is important that the eye continues to look at the fixation sights and does not chase the yellow lights.
