A unique training day the course on airway management

High participation of attendees at the comprehensive theoretical-practical course on airway management

During emergency situations, proper airway management is a delicate yet fundamental phase to ensure the patient’s life is out of danger.

Airway management represents the foundation of every resuscitative treatment, an essential starting point for every subsequent therapeutic choice. Ventilation procedures, intubation, and all the various practices related to airway management require high technique as well as execution speed.

All of this was covered at the Airway Management course in emergency situations, both in and out of the hospital, on Sunday, the 21st in Rome at the Auditorium della Tecnica, which saw a large audience participation from various parts of Italy.

At the course, organized by the Medical Training Center with scientific responsibility of Dr. Fausto D’Agostino along with Dr. Costantino Buonopane and Pierfrancesco Fusco, distinguished speakers participated, providing a comprehensive description of airway management techniques: Carmine Della Vella, Piero De Donno, Stefano Ianni, Giacomo Monaco, Maria Vittoria Pesce, Paolo Petrosino.

Ample space was given to practical sessions; the event was indeed a unique opportunity for learners who could train on airway management techniques with state-of-the-art mannequins and simulators.

Learners, divided into small groups, could rotate through training stations on direct intubation management, video laryngoscopy, airway ultrasound, use of supraglottic devices, cricothyrotomy and fiberoptic bronchoscopy, pediatric airway management, and the SALAD technique for intubating a patient with a full stomach.

It was also an opportunity to present and try virtual reality goggles, where learners could immerse themselves in realistic emergency situations to simulate the Cricothyroidotomy procedure and chest drainage.
