New York State Police order one Airbus H160 and three H145 helicopters

The New York State Police has ordered one Airbus H160 and three H145 helicopters, becoming the first police agency in the United States to add an H160 to its fleet. This announcement follows an order for two H145s placed by the agency in 2024 as part of its program to replace its existing helicopters.

Originally established in 1931, the New York State Police Aviation Unit provides police services throughout the state, as well as rescue and environmental conservation services.

The H160 is one of the most technologically advanced helicopters in the world, designed and built to provide the highest standards of operational safety while offering levels of comfort unmatched by helicopters in its class. The H160 is capable of a wide range of missions, including police operations, offshore transport, search and rescue, private and business aviation, and emergency medical services, and is already operational in Brazil, Canada, France, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and many other European countries.

The H145 family of helicopters has been a staple of law enforcement air operations for more than two decades and has built a solid reputation for exceptional capability and reliability. In total, there are more than 1,740 H145 Family helicopters in service worldwide, more than 200 of which are deployed for public services and police missions. Powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines, the H145 is equipped with the digital engine control system (FADEC) and Helionix digital avionics suite. The helicopter’s CO₂ emissions are also among the lowest among its competitors.
