REAS 2024 unveils new aircraft, helicopters and seaplanes for forest firefighting

From Oct. 4-6, the REAS 2024 international trade fair presents the latest technologies and new aircraft dedicated to fighting wildfire

The twenty-third edition of the REAS 2024 International Emergency Exhibition will be held from October 4 to 6 at the Montichiari (Brescia) Exhibition Center. The fair presents itself as an opportunity to discover the latest technologies and new aircraft dedicated to fighting fires and forest fires. It will also be an ideal opportunity to take stock of the results of the 2024 forest firefighting campaign and present numerous in-depth events, including the traditional “AIB Roundtable” with national and regional civil protection authorities.

A summer of fire: the challenge against forest fires

Italy is about to face its hottest and driest summer season in years, with the risk of forest fires on the rise. Drought and high temperatures are putting a strain on the Italian territory, especially in the central and southern regions, where there are already numerous fires affecting brushwood, agricultural areas and wooded areas. To deal with this growing emergency, the Civil Defense Department has already deployed a fleet of 15 Canadair CL-415s, five Erickson S64F helicopters and 14 military bucket helicopters. But firefighting requires increasingly sophisticated tools suited to increasingly complex scenarios.

New weapons against flames: the aircraft of the future

Thus, the REAS 2024 International Emergency Exhibition will be an opportunity to learn more about the new firefighting aircraft that will soon be operational in Italy. Among them:

  • Elitaliana UH-60 Black Hawk: the first two of these twin-turbine helicopters, equipped with a 4,000-liter water tank and capable of refueling in flight, have already entered service. Another 20 will arrive by 2027
  • Leonardo C-27J Spartan: this twin-engine aircraft, usually used for military transport, is being tested with a removable 8-thousand-liter tank of water or retardant liquid
  • Hynaero Fregate-F100: this amphibious seaplane, intended to replace the Canadair CL-415s, will be able to launch 10 thousand liters of water over the flames and could be operational starting in 2031

REAS 2024: a unique opportunity to learn about the latest innovations

In addition to the new aircraft, REAS 2024 will host a large exhibition area where all the latest technological innovations for forest firefighting will be presented, from drones to monitoring systems, from emergency management software to special vehicles. A rich program of conferences and seminars will round out the offerings, giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about issues related to forest fire prevention and extinction and to engage with top experts in the field.

A must-attend event for all rescue operators

REAS 2024 is confirmed as the must-attend event for all rescue operators, from firefighters to Civil Defense volunteers, from law enforcement to healthcare personnel. It is a unique opportunity to learn about the latest technologies, network with colleagues and prepare to best meet future challenges.
