Sarno, mayor gives up allowance to make city Cardioprotected

A project realized not only through the allowance I gave up, but thanks to the citizens of Sarnia who wanted me to be mayor of this city by giving me their trust

So said Sarno Mayor Francesco Squillante during the presentation of the “Sarno Cardioprotected City” project.

With the inauguration of the first defibrillator placed in Piazza IV Novembre, the “Sarno Cardio Protected” project was presented. The Municipality of Sarno, thanks to the waiver of 50 percent of Mayor Francesco Squillante’s allowance, has launched the ambitious cardioprotection project, which includes the installation of defibrillators (AED Life Saving Stations) at strategic points in the territory, from the center to the suburbs.

This initiative aims to ensure rapid and timely intervention in case of sudden cardiac arrest, one of the leading causes of death in Italy.

The program includes the installation of six defibrillators: in Piazza IV Novembre, between Piazza Marconi and Piazza V Maggio, at the Fruit and Vegetable Market, in the hamlet of Lavorate, in the hamlet of Episcopio and in the hamlet of Foce.

“Our goal ‘-said Mayor Francesco Squillante-is to deeply ingrain the culture of first aid, thus offering the concrete possibility of saving lives. Providing the community with life-saving devices available at all times and training as many people as possible in the use of defibrillators are two essential elements. Every trained citizen becomes a key resource for the community, increasing the chances of effective intervention in critical situations and saving lives. Symbolically, the first defibrillator has been installed next to the municipal house because it is the home of every Sarnese citizen.”

“Special thanks go to the Mayor and the Municipal Administration of Sarno ”-said Antonio Ferraro, founder of Auexde, a leading company in the field of life-saving devices. – “The defibrillators are protected by innovative cases, constantly connected and remotely monitored, and set up for connection with the regional 112/118 health system, so as to minimize response times. Thanks to the 4G connection, the installed defibrillators are monitored around the clock, ensuring a sustainable and efficient life-saving system.”

The BLSD course will be taught by Dr. Giuseppe Colangelo, Medical Director of the NICU at the Villa Malta Martyrs Hospital in Sarno and National BLSD/PBLSD Instructor. The course will last 8 hours and will enable participants to acquire the fundamental skills to perform resuscitation intervention and correctly use the AED defibrillator, obtaining the BLSD Executor’s license.

“This is an important project ‘ – said Colangelo – ’founded on sensitivity and vision. I particularly appreciated the strong will of Mayor Squillante who made tangible a common good project that helps save lives. I have been working for years to make cities cardioprotected and to train people, because having adequate tools and means means being able to save lives.”
