The landing of the brand new Airbus H160 at the headquarters of UMBRAGROUP. With 68 patents, it boasts “made in Italy” technology

This July 16 in Foligno an exceptional event took place at UMBRAGROUP headquarters: the landing of the brand new Airbus H160 helicopter. This state-of-the-art helicopter, equipped with 68 patents, boasts “made in Italy” electromechanical actuation technology, developed and manufactured right in Foligno.

A collaboration of excellence

This event represents another milestone in the close collaboration between Airbus Helicopters and UMBRAGROUP, which began in 2018. Already two years ago, at the Airbus Helicopters Supplier Conference, UMBRAGROUP was awarded the Airbus Helicopters Innovation Award. The Award was for the development of two innovative electromechanical actuators. One for helicopter flight controls and the other for the design and development of electromechanical landing gear actuators. Just for the H160 helicopter.

Airbus H160: a state-of-the-art vehicle

The H160 is distinguished by its compact design, innovative technology and operational efficiency. It is the first helicopter in the world to replace traditional hydraulic systems with electromechanical actuators certified Safety-Critical by EASA. This feature dramatically reduces weight and fuel consumption, as well as saving on hydraulic maintenance and avoiding the use of polluting products and fluids. The project is perfectly in line with the roadmap shared by Airbus Helicopters and UMBRAGROUP, with the common goal of working toward increasingly sustainable aviation.

An outstanding event
