Covid, Ema: ‘Soon to be Pfizer in 12 to 15 years’. According to the New York Times, the US Food and Drug Administration is preparing to approve the vaccine for 12- to 15-year-olds as early as next week.
Ema’s decision regarding Pfizer vaccine:
The Ema’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (Chmp) is considering using the Pfizer-BioNTech anti-Covid vaccine in adolescents aged 12 to 15 years.
This was announced by the European Medicines Agency via its Twitter profile.
Meanwhile, according to the ‘New York Times’, the Food and Drug Administration is preparing to authorise the vaccine for 12-15 year olds as early as next week.
This would ensure that many youngsters are immunised before the start of the next school year.
Currently, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is used for young people aged 16 and older.
The Ema also announced that the review process for the Covid vaccine produced by China’s Sinovac has begun.
According to the Agency, this vaccine correctly stimulates the production of antibodies against Covid-19 and evaluations are underway to verify whether “the benefits outweigh the risks”.
The review process is the prelude to a subsequent authorisation of the Sinovac vaccine for use in the European Union.
