Japan, experts on Covid Omicron variant
According to Japan’s National Institute of Infectious Diseases, ‘people infected with the omicron variant of the coronavirus show a tendency to experience mild or no symptoms, although the infectivity of the variant is stronger than that of the delta variant, which is rapidly replacing it everywhere’.
“The risk of people developing severe symptoms after being infected with the omicron variant is, however, unknown, but from the available data it is assumed that patients tend to have mild symptoms,” the institute added in the note issued earlier in the day.
