Covid Soberana 02 and Abdala vaccines: serum conversion to Omicron antibodies was appreciated in 90% or more of those vaccinated in Cuba
The Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), on its website, informed that preliminary studies developed by the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK) on those vaccinated with Soberana and Abdala show that these immunogens have the ability to generate antibodies to the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
In subjects vaccinated with Soberana 02 and Abdala, 90 % or more revealed a high serum conversion of anti coronal bodies
A criterion that reached 100 % among those who were reinforced with Soberana 01 and Abdala, reports the study.
Dagmar García Rivera, director of investigations at the Finlay Institute of Vaccination (IFV), pointed out in Twitter that five months after receiving the last dose of Soberana, the 20 adult subjects showed high neutralisation titres.
These results, described by the IFV as very good, speak positively of the vaccination scheme and accelerated reinforcement in the country, as a measure taken in the face of evidence that an additional dose increases levels of protection against SARS-COV-2 infection.
As of 25 January, 10,558,532 people have received at least one dose of one of the Cuban vaccinations Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala, including those who received Soberana Plus as a single dose
9 811 501 people have a full vaccination schedule, or 87.7 % of the Cuban population, Minsap said.
On Thursday, January 27, it was announced that the inspection of the Soberana Plus Torino clinical trial, designed for Italian convalescents vaccinated with Soberana Plus, by the Center for State Control of Medicines, Instruments and Medical Devices, the Cuban regulatory authority, has ended satisfactorily, the IFV informed in Twitter.
