Italian Mountain and Speleological Rescue Service, Maurizio Dellantonio reconfirmed as Cnsas President

Cnsas National Assembly elections, confirmation of Maurizio Dellantonio: “Onwards for another three years. To see Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico grow again, with the aim of being even more efficient in helping people in the mountains”

These are the words of Maurizio Dellantonio, from Moena in Trentino, after his reconfirmation as leader of “Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico”

The reappointment took place today after the vote of the National Assembly, which met for the traditional triennial elections of the Corps’ highest offices. Dellantonio has been leading the organisation since 2015, and this is his third mandate.

Together with the president, the members of the National Direction, the CNSAS coordination and management body, were also elected: they are the vice-presidents Alessandro Molinu (vicar) and Mauro Guiducci (at the head of the speleological component) and the councillors Alfonso Ardizzi, Roberto Bolza, Fabio Bristot, Luca Franzese, Pino Giostra, Fabrizio Masella and Corrado Pesci.

The Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico (Alpine and Speleological Rescue) is today an organisation with more than 10,000 missions per year,” said Dellantonio.

Over the last ten years, our organisation has experienced significant growth, accompanied by a series of legal reforms and internal reorganisations which today place our Corps at the forefront of safety in the mountains and in inaccessible environments.

We are present in all Italian regions, alongside the regional health systems, and we collaborate actively with the Government, the Civil Protection Department and the country’s institutions.

We have recently signed agreements with numerous state bodies, which complement the ‘historic’ protocols with the Italian Armed Forces, the Armed Forces and the Public Safety Department.

On the objectives, Dellantonio, supported in his presentation to the assembly by the new councillors, said:

“We will continue the technological implementation project of Alpine and Speleological Rescue, with new device and technical experiments, with also a further strengthening of the training of our 7,000 operators.

We are also working on new agreements with the country’s leading organisations.

In terms of infrastructures, this year will see the start of the definitive and executive design of the new national headquarters in Milan: a campus close to the city centre, with ample space for management, training and storage of materials.

It will become the reference point, the ‘home’ of our organisation.

During the assembly, the title of Honorary Member was also conferred on former Member of Parliament Vittorio Marniga, with the following motivation:

“For having guaranteed to the CNSAS volunteers, as first signatory of the Draft Law n. 1990, then Law n. 162 of 18 February 1992 – Provision for the volunteers of the National Mountain Rescue Corps and for the facilitation of the related rescue operations -, the possibility and legitimacy to be able to carry out rescue missions and training activities at national and regional level, ensuring to the employees the recognition of their economic and social security treatment and to the self-employed the right indemnity.

Thanks to this measure, which soon took on the friendly and affectionate name of “Marniga” for all CNSAS volunteers, it was possible to carry out thousands of rescue operations and save just as many people, guaranteeing the entire Corps the possibility of achieving its goals through the benefits provided therein”.
