The first words of Rosario Valastro, elected President of the Italian Red Cross
“It is the Italian Red Cross that has won, it is the more than 150 thousand Volunteers of the Association who have chosen, together with me, to give continuity to the path traced out and, at the same time, to look to a future under the banner of renewal that will lead us to face the new challenges that will come.
It is the victory of the territories, of those who want to unite old and new generations, continuing to work for the good of the largest Association in our country, of a reality that has repeatedly demonstrated that it makes a difference, responding to emergencies and critical situations, being ready at all times to help’. These are the words of the President of the Italian Red Cross, Rosario Valastro.
“I thank all those who have stood by me, my family, my wife and daughter, the Red Cross Volunteers who daily make me feel their closeness and who, especially in recent days, have overwhelmed me with phone calls and messages.
Your affection,’ added Valastro, ‘has been and will be an extra boost for me.
My sincerest congratulations to the elected councillors, with whom, together with the entire team that has supported me, I have shared and will continue to share my path in the CRI.
Good luck to the Youth Representative, Edoardo Italia.
Together we will work for a Red Cross that is still able to be a bulwark of humanity, strong in its seven Principles and its ability to extend its hand to anyone in need”.
