Russian army bombing: Red Cross on a white background appears on the roofs of Odessa health facilities
The mayor of the city gave the news. The symbol indicates to the bombing planes that there are sick people and medical personnel in the building.
In accordance with the Geneva Convention, which contains precise dictates regarding the low level of hostility to be held with medical facilities, a flag with the Red Cross on a white background should compel all parties to the conflict to respect the location.
Attacks on such facilities are forbidden and constitute a serious violation of international law, which incidentally is recognised by both Ukraine and Russia.
The hope is that everyone will respect that symbol.
