Migration, food security and crisis for the 9th Regional Conference of IRC
The 9th European Regional Conference of Red Cross and Red Crescent will be hosted by the Italian Red Cross in Florence from the 3rd to the 6th June gathering 53 National Societies.
Among the themes, new aspects of migration, food security, new poverties and consequences of the economic crisis.
The 9th European Regional Conference of Red Cross and Red Crescent will be hosted by the Italian Red Cross in Florence. This event, which will take place from the 3rd to the 6th June, represents a unique moment for discussing the new humanitarian priorities the Red Cross and Red Crescent have to face in Europe. In particular the 52 National Societies which will join Florence will discuss the issue related to “The humanitarian impact of the economic crisis in Europe e and the Red Cross role in the response” through 6 workshops organized on two thematic areas.
The first theme “Humanitarian consequences of the Economic crisis- How vulnerability is changed?” will be discussed in three session: new aspects of migration, Food security, livelihood, social issues (unemployment, youth and over 50), resilience from theory to practice.
The second theme “Crisis as an opportunity” will be debated in other three additional workshops: Change mindsets through unformal humanitarian education; National Societies in crisis time , how to create a constructive enabling for volunteers; the future of the humanitarian aids; face the models change through innovation
