Representatives from the Russian Red Cross, the IFRC and the ICRC visited the Belgorod region to assess the needs of displaced people

Ukraine emergency, displaced persons in Belgorod: a delegation of the Russian Red Cross (RKK), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) visited the Belgorod region to assess the situation associated with the arrival of internally displaced persons in the region and the need for humanitarian assistance

Currently, the Belgorod regional branch of the RKK has provided assistance to 549 families

The needy have been provided with food and hygiene kits, baby food, nappies, bedding, clothes and shoes.

“The work of collecting humanitarian aid is now organised in all regions of the Russian Federation.

In addition, it is very important to improve the lives of people who have come to us, to help them settle in places of temporary residence, to surround them with care and to provide them with everything they need.

In the Belgorod region, the work in this regard is obviously enormous.

We are even more convinced of this today,” said Victoria Makarchuk , First Vice-President of the Russian Red Cross.

The Belgorod Regional Section of the Russian Red Cross meets and accompanies those arriving from Donbass and Ukraine

It provides psychosocial support, advice on migration legislation and visits to temporary reception centres to assess the needs of arrivals.

In our region, as well as in 10 other constituent entities of the Russian Federation, a Unified Assistance Centre has been established.

Items are collected at the point, baby food, long-life products, blankets, pillows, sheets, towels, personal hygiene items.

Volunteers from the #WeTogether office work at the centre.

Any resident of the region can transfer things, essential goods to the address: Belgorod region: Belgorod, Bogdan Khmelnitsky avenue, 181.

“We are collecting humanitarian aid for all those coming to the Belgorod region from the Donbass and Ukraine.

We give them everything they need: clothes, food, hygiene items.

Residents of the region from the first day of the announced evacuation in the Donbas are actively responding, empathising with all those who have been forced to leave their homes, transporting things, products.

It should be noted that according to tonight’s data, there are almost 6 thousand people in the Belgorod region, 769 of whom live in temporary reception centres.
