Requests for research and messages
The International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent has opened a Central Tracing Agency office dedicated to the international armed conflict in Ukraine.
Efforts are being made to locate or identify persons killed in the conflict, such as military personnel (prisoners of war detained or presumed detained by the opposing side; missing in action in the line of duty and who have lost contact with their families or deceased or presumed to have died under their own authority or in the hands of the opposing side), civilian personnel (civilians deprived of their liberty in the hands of the adversary; arrested or detained by their own authorities; or persons for whom the family has no information on their whereabouts in relation to the conflict) and unaccompanied and separated minors (of whom six cases have already been processed, of which three are still awaiting resolution).
Out of a total of 257 registered cases of loss of contact with relatives in Ukraine, 77% of the cases have already been closed (in most of these cases contact had been restored after a temporary loss of contact due to lack of infrastructure or electricity), and 65 cases remain open.
In Spain, the Family Contact Restoration service, in coordination with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, is also active through different channels:
