“Today is the 100th day of war. 100 days of suffering for people in Ukraine.
100 days of the horrors of war.
But at the same time – 100 days of solidarity with Ukraine and its people.
And Austria also plays its role as a friend of Ukraine.
We want not only to make declarations of solidarity, but also to provide practical assistance within the scope of our capabilities, in particular humanitarian aid,’ said Chancellor Karl Negammer.
He recalled that Austria had previously announced its intention to treat 100 seriously injured Ukrainian women and children
Fire trucks have also been delivered to Ukraine, now ambulances of the Austrian Red Cross.
In the future, the ambulances will be distributed according to the needs of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
“This is the beginning of the aid, but not the end,” Negammer said.
Herald Schaeffer, head of the Austrian Red Cross, said that the 10 cars delivered to Ukraine were “only a part of the aid”.
Another 12 relief vehicles will be delivered by Austria to Ukraine
Ukraine’s ambassador to Austria Vasyl Khiminets thanked the Austrian government and people for their solidarity and willingness to help our country.
Addressing Negammer, he said: ‘You were one of the first heads of government to call the President of Ukraine a few hours after the Russian attack and clearly stated that Austria would be on Ukraine’s side.
And this assistance is also a continuation of your dialogue with ‘This assistance is very important, because we see every day how hard Russia is acting against the Ukrainian people’.
The ambassador stressed that the Ukrainians will continue to fight.
“We see that Russia has no interest in any negotiations and we will continue to fight until we liberate our territory.
That is possible.
But for that we also need help, because we are fighting not only for the freedom of Ukraine, but also for the freedom of Europe. ‘, – he said.
As reported by Ukrinform, the city of Vienna previously delivered 16 fire and rescue vehicles to Ukraine .
