Ukraine, emergency doctors will receive GoodSAM, an app developed in the UK
Ukrainian ’emergency’ doctors will receive GoodSAM, a specialised mobile application from the UK
The UK has offered Ukraine the opportunity to implement the GoodSAM app in its emergency medical care system free of charge
With the help of this application, Ukrainian emergency physicians (EMCs) will be able to:
- Obtain with an accuracy of 20 metres the geolocation of the subscriber calling the emergency medical team (even in the absence of his application).
This is extremely important during the war, as there are currently a large number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ukrainian-controlled territories who are poorly or not oriented to the area they are in.
For this reason, there are many cases where without outside help a person cannot clearly provide their coordinates by calling ‘103’.
If necessary, maintain video communication with the requested subscriber.
Thanks to GoodSAM, doctors in Ukraine can now consult, make the necessary recommendations and even measure the patient’s respiratory rate and heart rate
This is particularly important in cases where access to the patient – under various circumstances (bad roads, extreme remoteness, etc.) – is difficult or takes a long time.
It is now essential to create a database of volunteers in the EMD system and to coordinate their activities.
The GoodSAM application is currently being implemented in the regions.
