Ukraine, France to provide firefighting and rescue equipment worth over €300 million

France will help Ukraine with a EUR 1.2 billion macro-financial assistance plan, a quarter of which will be dedicated to firefighting and emergency relief

France and Ukraine have finalised agreements on a number of projects related to railways and critical infrastructure

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky following a meeting with the French leader.

The President of France arrived in Ukraine for the first time in over 20 years, the President’s Office reported.

French railway company Alstom will supply Ukraine with 130 locomotives worth 900 million euros.

Ukraine will also receive 370 units of firefighting and rescue equipment from France for €300 million

Airbus will build on the development of Ukraine’s national airline, which was previously planned to be equipped with An-158 aircraft.

Together with France, a project to build patrol boats for the State Border Guard Service is being implemented in Mykolayiv.

Separately, Zelensky highlighted the drinking water treatment project in Mariupol and the reconstruction of the water supply system in the city of Popasna (Luhansk region).

The Office of the President said that France will provide macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 1.2 billion euros

The details of this programme are not specified.

This is the same amount that the entire EU plans to provide to Ukraine in the near future.

Ukraine and France signed agreements on Alstom locomotives and fire-fighting equipment in May 2021.
