Ukraine, Italian Red Cross efforts for Christmas: new mission with ambulances and humanitarian aid underway
Christmas in Ukraine, President Francesco Rocca: “With the great cold weather and the energy crisis, we could not fail to be present once again”
The commitment of the Italian Red Cross in favor of Ukraine does not stop even at Christmas
In fact, on December 15, a new important mission will leave to bring new humanitarian aid requested by the Ukrainian Red Cross, in particular to cope with the cold and energy emergency, from the National Emergency Operations Center (CONE) in Rome with destination Suceava (Romania), Vinnitsa (Ukraine), Zytomyr (Ukraine), Chernivtsi (Ukraine).
Leading the humanitarian mission, which will consist of 18 workers, will be Ignazio Schintu, director of Operations, Emergencies and Relief of the CRI, who has overseen several missions on Ukrainian soil this year.
The year 2022 has been a year of intense activity for the Italian Red Cross in support of its Ukrainian sister organization.

Christmas mission, the Italian Red Cross’ load of aid for Ukraine
This time the load of aid, among other things, includes: 10 ambulances, 1 snow groomer vehicle (snowplow), 55 power generators and 160 respirators for oxygen therapy, 1 truckload of food.
“The tragic conflict that has been affecting the Ukrainian territory for almost a year,” stresses Francesco Rocca, President of the Italian Red Cross, “has seen our Association as a protagonist, since February, of numerous humanitarian missions: from the weekly dispatch of aid convoys to evacuations of fragile civilians, to the construction of a real logistics hub for the storage of goods of international importance in Suceava, on the border between Romania and Ukraine, mobile clinics and the start of the project to build temporary housing modules for displaced families.
With the great cold weather and the energy crisis, we could not fail to be present once again, responding promptly to the call of our Ukrainian sister organization.”
“We will leave CONE with a convoy loaded with hope. Ambulances and oxygenators,” remarked Ignazio Schintu, director of emergency and relief operations of the CRI, “will allow us to boost relief activities and direct support to people.
Through the generators we will provide energy to homes and social-health facilities. CRI vehicles will also be used to facilitate logistical and relocation operations.
Once again we will respond with our commitment to the difficulties of so many people and to the crisis generated by the Ukrainian conflict.”
