Wall of water and wind bring death: previously unpublished images of Hayan from Tacloban
A terrifying destructive force that leaves no way out for the inhabitants of the district of Tacloban in the Philippines, hit by typhoon Hayan/Yolanda. This previously unpublished video captures the moment when the giant sea wave struck the coast sweeping away the wooden houses in its path. The number of victims is still unknown: after a series of vastly varying estimates and government sources, international press correspondents are now estimating the number of dead as between 8,000 and 10,000 in the Tacloban area alone, the most badly affected, in which rescue workers have not yet been able to reach some villages and many dead bodies are lying unburied amongst the ruins.
