Video footage of a line rescue directly from the Banff National Park in Canada
A climber is rescued and carried to safety by the visitor safety team of the Banff National Park in Canada.
This technical helicopter “long-line” rescue involved a member of the safety team being lowered by rope from the helicopter, securing the climber, protecting his body and finally winching him up in a bag stretcher to the helicopter.
The climber had fallen from a height of over 20 metres and had multiple injuries to his face, a broken ankle, fractured ribs and a dislocated shoulder, as well as having suffered a terrifying experience, as can be seen on the footage.
